ELECTIONS
The nominating committee has placed three names in the nomination to fill three vacant seats on the SchoolsFirst FCU Board of Directors. The candidates for the 2009 election are Dr. Esmael Adibi, Dr. Marc Ecker and Linda Salata. No ballot is required if there is only one nominee per open position. There will be no nominations from the floor.
NOMINATIONS
Nominations may also be made by petition. Any Member who wishes to be nominated must submit a petition signed by 500 Members, along with a signed statement of willingness to serve if elected and a statement of qualifications. In compliance with SchoolsFirst FCU’s bylaws, petitions must be received by the nominating committee no later than midnight on Feb. 4, 2009. Petition forms are available upon request from the office of the president. ESMAEL (Essie) ADIBI, PH.D.
Dr. Adibi was appointed to the SchoolsFirst FCU Board of Directors in 2007. He has served as a credit union volunteer since 1999, first as a member of the Orange County Teachers Service Organization Board of Directors, and later the OCTFCU Mortgage Company Board of Managers.
Dr. Adibi is director of the
A. Gary Anderson Center for
Economic Research at Chapman
University. His articles
have been published in newspapers
such as
The Los Angeles
Times and the
Orange
County Register, as well as
professional journals.
Dr. Adibi is a past president of the Association for University Business and Economic Research. He serves on the NABE Economic Outlook Survey Panel and Western Blue Chip Economic Forecast Panel. He is a member of California Controller’s Council of Economic Advisors. He received his doctorate degree in economics from Claremont Graduate University.
MARC ECKER, PH.D.
Dr. Ecker was appointed to the SchoolsFirst FCU Board of Directors in August 2006. Prior to that, he served on a number of other credit union committees and Boards beginning in 2000. He currently is the superintendent of the Fountain Valley School District.
Dr. Ecker has long been an active member of the Fountain Valley Rotary. He also serves on the Junior Achievement Board of Directors and sits on the Advisory Panel for Measured Progress, an educational assessment corporation.
He also serves the Jewish community as a member of the Orange County Hillel Foundation Executive Board. Dr. Ecker serves on the executive committee for the new California State University Doctorate Program and teaches School Finance and Organizational Leadership in the Graduate School of Educational Administration at California State University, Fullerton.
LINDA SALATA
Mrs. Salata has been a member of the Board of Directors since 1994. In addition to her Board of Directors position, she has served on the Executive, Member Relations and Nominating Committees, as well as the OCTFCU Mortgage Company Board of Managers.
Serving as an elementary school teacher for 17 years, she received her Administrative Services Credential from UC Irvine in 1997 and was an administrator for 12 years in the Orange Unified School District. Prior to her retirement in June 2008, she was the vice-principal of Taft Elementary School, and principal of both Olive and Imperial Elementary Schools.
Mrs. Salata is committed to and very active in many philanthropic pursuits, with SchoolsFirst FCU always at the top of her list.
